Last Halloween, Eli Roth and Crypt TV brought us a VR treat called Eli Roth’s Haunted House: Trick-VR-Treat. Now they’re set to release a 30 minute VR slasher for Valentine’s Day, and the project is called Eli Roth’s Be Mine: A VR Valentine’s Slasher. Directed by Backcountry and Pyewacket director Adam MacDonald and starring Peyton List of Cobra Kai and The Friendship Game, Be Mine will premiere in Meta Horizon Worlds at 10pm EST on February 10th.

Meta Horizon Worlds is “currently available to people 18+ in the US, Canada, the UK, Iceland, Ireland, France, and Spain on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro.” Oculus.com notes that VR horror fans can experience the premiere event in Worlds’ creepy cabin, which is designed for immersive viewing, on February 10 at 7:00 pm PT. BE MINE will also be available for on-demand viewing in VR on Meta Quest TV. And people without a Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest Pro headset can enjoy the short film on Facebook and Instagram.

Scripted by Roth, Be Mine is a 180- and 360-degree immersive VR experience that follows Becca, a girl who’s stalked by an anonymous maniac in a Cupid mask, as she finds herself at the center of a frightening Valentine’s Day nightmare.

Roth and Crypt TV are producing the VR short in association with Cream Productions. Roth had this to say about the project: “I had the most incredible experience making Trick-VR-Treat with Meta, and we wanted to push the experience even further with Be Mine, creating a true narrative experience where you’re at the center of a slasher film. I wrote Be Mine knowing what worked best in VR, but pushing the boundaries with new ideas and techniques, and the results are nothing short of thrilling. We have created a true immersive horror experience. I have been a huge fan of Adam MacDonald for a long time, and what he and the incredible cast brought to life is something unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I think horror fans are going to absolutely love it. Get ready, it’s a bloody good time.

List is joined in the cast by Inanna Sarkis (After We Collided) and Alanna Ubach (Euphoria).

I don’t have a VR headset, but Be Mine sounds interesting to me. I’ll probably end up watching it on Facebook or Instagram. Do you have a Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest Pro headset, and will you be diving into the Be Mine experience? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
