Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning: Extended behind-the-scenes look at the newest Tom Cruise death-defying stunt is released

Actor/Producer/Thrill-seeker Tom Cruise recently released a couple of videos speaking to the fans while thousands of miles up in the air. A few months ago, Cruise made a pre-show video for some screenings of Top Gun: Maverick while he stood atop a biplane as it was in the air and just about to film a take for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning. And recently, the star released a video thanking fans for making Top Gun: Maverick the movie of the summer as he filmed while skydiving.

Tom continues to push himself and his limits in the face of danger for the sake of the audience’s entertainment. The newest big stunt that will be one of the highlights of the film will be a motorcycle from a ramp that leads off of a cliff in Norway. The newest behind-the-scenes video from Paramount showcases the meticulous preparation Tom and company had to partake in to perfect the stunt. Tom would start off by training in motocross and get used to jumping ramps before they calculate the trajectory for his free fall after he launches himself from the bike.

From there, Tom takes it away in a free fall, which comes of no difficulty to him as the movie star has logged countless hours base-jumping. Cruise posted the behind-the-scenes video on his Twitter, saying, “So excited to share what we’ve been working on.” As well as touting, “This is far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted.” But as his philosophy for making movies always has been, Cruise states, “It all comes down to one thing: the audience.”

As the latest in his death-defying ventures in the series, Tom explains, “I had about six seconds once I departed the ramp to pull the chute, and I don’t want to get tangled in the bike. If I do, that’s not going to end well.” In the past, Tom has dangled from a helicopter, flown a helicopter, jumped from a plane, held onto a plane while taking off, held his breath underwater for seven minutes, climbed the Burj Kalifa, as well as some rock climbing for the spy series started back in 1996.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part I opens July 14, 2023.
