HBO’s True Detective series is set to continue the next anthological story in its gritty crime drama. The first season took place in a reclusive Louisiana town. The second season showcased many parts of the Los Angeles area. The third season would take place in the Ozarks. And now the newest season of the dark series will be taking place in Alaska.

The official plot synopsis from HBO reads,

“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) must confront their pasts and the dark truths lying underneath the Arctic ice.”

Despite being set in Alaska, the production for the HBO show has officially started in Iceland. They had recently announced their cast, including two-time Academy Award-winning actress Jodie Foster. Joining her will be boxer Kali Reis, John Hawkes, Christopher Eccleston, Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, Isabella Star Lablanc, and Joel D. Montgrand.
