Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game introduces killers Johnny and Sissy

Ten months ago, we heard that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game being developed by Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham will be introducing killers other than the Leatherface, Cook, and Hitch-Hiker characters from the original Chainsaw film (watch it HERE). Killer characters that haven’t been seen in any of the movies. Now the folks at Game Spot have made their way through an alternate reality game experience that led them to the reveal of two of those new killer characters: Johnny and Sissy. Click over to Game Spot to find out how you can experience the ARG yourself, and scroll down to the bottom of this article to get a look at Johnny and Sissy.

Game Spot notes that Johnny and Sissy “were created by Gun in collaboration with Kim Henkel, the movie’s original screenwriter and rightsholder.” As Gun’s creative director Ronnie Hobbs said last year, “As interesting as The Cook, Hitchhiker, and Leatherface are, three killers simply wouldn’t be enough to sustain the game for long periods of time. We needed more. Luckily, (Chainsaw co-creator) Kim Henkel came through again to help us solve this issue. Kim had several ideas for additional characters that never made it into the 1974 film, but ultimately he allowed us to create new Slaughter family members on our own. This level of trust meant the world to me. I knew each new family member had to be unique and memorable, while at the same time looking like they belonged. To put it simply, they needed to stand out, but not in a negative way. While I can’t discuss specific character details, I can say a considerable amount of time and work went into crafting each of the new killers. Each one took well over a year from start to finish, and it’s an aspect of the game that myself and the team is quite proud of.”

Matches of this Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game will pit four potential victims against three killers. You can read about the victim characters HERE. The video game is set before the events of the original film and has the following set-up:

When Maria Flores went missing, and local law enforcement seemed to stall out in their search, her younger sister Ana teamed up with some of Maria’s friends from college to pick up the trail. It’s time for you to meet our cast of Victims.

The cast that has been assembled to bring the Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game’s characters to life includes genre icon Kane Hodder, who is doing the motion-capture performance for Leatherface; Edwin Neal, providing the voice of the Hitch-hiker, the character he played in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre; plus Scout Taylor-Compton (Rob Zombie’s Halloween), Kristina Klebe (Don’t Kill It), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs), and Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night).
