According to Deadline, Justin Simien (Dear White People) is set to develop a TV series adaptation of Geiger for Paramount Television Studios. The best-selling series was created by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank for Image Comics, and Johns will develop the series adaptation alongside Simien.
“Set in the years after a nuclear war has ravaged the planet, desperate outlaws battle for survival in a world of radioactive chaos,” reads the official description of the Geiger comic. “Out past the poisoned wasteland lives a man even the Nightcrawlers and Organ People fear. Some name him Joe Glow, others call him the Meltdown Man. But his name…is Geiger.” The comic series is a lot of fun, with some great visuals to go along with it, particularly when Geiger is powered up. Geoff Johns will write the pilot for the Geiger TV series, and also serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Justin Simien, Kyle Laursen, Jamie Iracleanos, and Gary Frank.
Geoff Johns has been quite busy with the DC Universe for some time. He served as a producer on Green Lantern, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, Shazam!, Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984, as well as the recently released Black Adam and the upcoming Shazam: Fury of the Gods. He’s also producing the live-action Green Lantern TV series, which is still very much alive despite Warner Bros. axing several DC projects. The series will tell a story “spanning decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott, and 1984, with cocky alpha male Guy Gardner and half-alien Bree Jarta. They’ll be joined by a multitude of other Lanterns — from comic book favorites to never-before-seen heroes.“
