While gearing up to reprise the role of his Marvel Cinematic Universe hero Sam Wilson – who has now taken on the mantle of Captain America – in Captain America: New World Order, Anthony Mackie has also taken the opportunity to sign on to star in the post-apocalyptic thriller Elevation. Deadline reports that Mackie will be joined in the cast of Elevation by Maddie Hasson (Malignant) and Morena Baccarin (Deadpool).
George Nolfi, who previously worked with Mackie on the films The Banker and The Adjustment Bureau, will be directing Elevation from a screenplay by Kenny Ryan and Jacob Roman. The project is described as being a “high-concept, thematically driven action piece set in the Rocky Mountains”. The story centers on
a single father and two women who must venture from the safety of their home to face monstrous creatures in order to save the life of a child.
Nolfi and Mackie are producing the film with Brad Fuller, John Glenn, Alex Black, Jeremy Kipp Walker, and Joel Viertel. Black, founder of the production company Lyrical Media, is providing the financing. Jon Rosenberg and Alex Ginno of Fuller’s company Fuller Media serve as executive producers alongside Natalie Sellers of Lyrical and Jason Spire of Inspire Entertainment. Ryan and Roman, who previously worked on the CBS series SEAL Team, are co-producing.
In addition to directing The Adjustment Bureau and The Banker, Nolfi directed Birth of the Dragon and worked on the screenplays for Timeline, Ocean’s Twelve, The Sentinel, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Spectral. He also created the NBC series Allegiance.
There isn’t much information available about Elevation right now, but just the fact that it’s about Mackie, Hasson, and Baccarin battling monstrous creatures is enough to sell me on the idea.
