The One Where Ryan Reynolds Is Mac’s Boyfriend. Reynolds has opened up about his desire to be featured on FX’s hugely successful It’s Always Sunny on Philadelphia. But he wouldn’t play Frank’s estranged son or Charlie’s reading coach, but rather Mac’s boyfriend.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney sat down with BuzzFeed (and puppies–how adorable!) to discuss the finale of their documentary series Welcome to Wrexham. But it wasn’t all soccer (sorry, football) talk. When prompted on why Reynolds never appeared on the FX show, he said, “I’m personally offended that I’ve never been asked.” McElhenney responded, “Well, it can be arranged…Mac needs a boyfriend.” Reynold’s response: “Great, let’s do it!”

While it was hinted at for a number of seasons, Rob McElhenney’s Mac character was revealed to be gay in season 11, finally coming out to his father in the season 13 finale “Mac Finds His Pride.”

Ryan Reynolds actually has a history with the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Last year, Maximum Effort–the production company he co-founded–tweeted that all Reynolds moved all of Deadpool 3’s budget into financing a Fantastic Four movie with the cast of Always Sunny. That, unfortunately, was just a joke, but come on, Danny DeVito as Thing? That’s a money maker right there!

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are co-owners of Wrexham A.F.C., a Welsh football(/soccer) club part of the National League. The series Welcome to Wexham highlights the two as they “navigate running the 3rd oldest professional football club in the world. Welcome to Wrexham is a docuseries tracking the dreams and worries of Wrexham, a working-class town in North Wales, UK, as two Hollywood stars take ownership of the town’s historic yet struggling football club.”

What do you think? Should Ryan Reynolds step into the City of Brotherly Love for a character on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia?
