Last month, we learned that Lionsgate is funding a horror film based on the novel Creepers (pick up a copy HERE) by First Blood author David Morrell. At the time, it was said that Skylan Brooks (The Darkest Minds) would be one of the film’s cast members – but Deadline reports that Brooks is no longer involved with the project. Taking over the role he was going to play is Shane Paul McGhie, who is best known for playing the role of Landon in After and After We Collided. (McGhie then passed the role over to Chance Perdomo for After We Fell.)
Creepers tells the story of
a group of young urban explorers who plan to investigate an old, boarded up, seemingly abandoned hotel, only to encounter danger at every turn in the form of a competing group of hostile urban explorers seeking to find a legendary hidden treasure as well as a supernatural being who wreaks havoc on all.
McGhie joins a cast that includes Jake Manley (Infamous), Adeline Rudolph (Resident Evil), Francesca Reale (Stranger Things), Laurence O’Fuarain (Viking Destiny), Nicholas Hamilton (It), Javier Botet (The Conjuring 2), and Kai Caster (The Baxters). We also have information on the characters his co-stars will be playing: “Manley will play Rick, the official leader of the Creepers; Rudolph will play Diane, the unofficial leader of the group, and Rick’s rebellious, defying, impulsive girlfriend; Reale will play Cora, a parkour expert and the key in the group who opens doors wherever they’re closed while keeping everyone honest; O’Faurain will play Balenger, a mysterious, brooding, powerful stranger with a secret and who isn’t who he says he is; Hamilton will play Tod, leader of the Scavengers, a rival urbex group and who is particularly cruel and vicious; Botet will play the supernatural Pale Creature whose domain is the abandoned Paragon Hotel; and Caster will play JD, once a Creeper, but exiled after breaking their code and further betraying them by joining the rival Scavs.”
McGhie’s character is Vernon, “the 4th Creeper, a wise-cracking tech-nerd who is not doing a good job of hiding his true feelings for Cora”. The actor’s other credits include Sacred Lies, What Men Want, Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, The Last Shift, Amazing Stories, Deputy, and Greenleaf.
Creepers is being directed by Marc Klasfeld, who previously directed the 2005 comedy The L.A. Riot Spectacular and over twenty years of music videos. The film is coming to us from Lionsgate and Suretone Pictures.
