Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone vs Chamber of Secrets – Face Off

In 2001, the wonderful world of witchcraft and wizardry burst onto the silver screen with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The story, of course, follows Harry Potter, the eleven-year-old boy whose life is forever changed after he’s informed Hagrid voice “You’re a wizard Harry.”

The movie about the boy who lived was a critical and commercial hit that was naturally followed up with the next installment of the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The sequel finds Harry and his friends returning to Hogwarts for a second year — complete with mysterious, petrifying attacks! These films kickstarted the incredible careers of multiple child actors such as Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson.

Both entries were expertly directed by Chris Columbus, of Home Alone fame, and the series became a cornerstone of pop culture and a worldwide sensation almost overnight. But which of the two first entries deserves the House Cup? It’s Diagon Alley versus Knockturn Alley. Professor Quirrell versus Professor Lockhart. Hedwig vs Dobby! It’s Sorcerer’s Stone versus Chamber of Secrets here on… FACE OFF!

This episode of Face Off is written by Paul Cooper, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg, and edited by Paul Cooper. But don’t let us have the final word — tell us in the comments which Harry Potter flick is your pick — the classic Sorcerer’s Stone that started it all or the darker Chamber of Secrets that revealed mysteries of the world?
