I loved Nope. It’s wild, inventive, and features an incredible cast. And it also happens to be beautifully shot with some genuine thrills. Coming off of both Get Out and Us, writer/director Jordan Peele is at home tackling the horror and sci-fi genre. Yet even still, you are likely to hear a lot of comparisons to a popular Steven Spielberg flick as audiences finally get to see the latest from Peele. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, and Steven Yeun, all of whom shine. Yes, I’m a fan, and I’ll be heading back to the theatres to see this one with an audience once again. That’s a big YES to NOPE for me.
After three years of interviews on Zoom, it’s always nice to meet with someone face to face. This is especially true when you are sitting down with Mr. Jordan Peele. The second I walked into the room, I excitedly mentioned a couple of clear influences, and he met that with a nod and smile. The incredible talent also discussed how influences could be effective when telling a story. It was a terrific conversation and an honor to speak to the man. He even walked me to the door after the interview as we continued to chat. Mr. Peele is incredibly smart, talented, and an all-around nice guy. And the filmmaker gave fans one of the best times at the movies you could have this summer. Check out Nope in theatres this Friday.
