While Kit Harrington is eager to return to making more Game of Thrones, the Mother of Dragons, Emilia Clarke, feels differently. In an interview with BBC, Clarke commented on Harrington’s effort to launch a new series for his fan-favorite character, Jon Snow, and she’s excited to learn more about it.
“He has told me about it. And I know it exists. It’s happening,” Clarke told BBC. “It’s been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington.”
With Jon Snow getting his a solo series, BBC asked if Clarke would be interested in making a spin-off based on her iconic character, Daenerys Targaryen. “No,” she replied. “I think I’m done.”
While filming Game of Thrones had its share of ups and downs for all involved, Clarke’s experience on the show was also a mixed bag. At the start, Game of Thrones was notorious for its explicit scenes of sex and violence. Clarke, who was only 23 when she started filming, was caught up in the mix. She’s described her nude scenes as “terrifying,” and says she often cried before standing in front of the camera.
When asked if she regretted filming the scenes, Clarke carefully explained, “Regret isn’t something I do. It’s not something I like. I have since not done very much nudity. Read into that what you will.”
While the finale for Game of Thrones was ill-received by fans, many are still excited for the Jon Snow spin-off. We’re also two months out from HBO‘s House of the Dragon, a new project set in the Game of Thrones universe.
The upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off is set hundreds of years before the original series. It is based upon George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, a Targaryen history book that chronicles the history of House Targaryen, starting with “Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and [going on] to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold the throne, all the way up to the civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, that nearly tore their dynasty apart.” Miguel Sapochnik, who helmed many episodes of Game of Thrones, has previously teased that House of the Dragon will have its tone compared to Game of Thrones.
House of the Dragon will debut on August 21, 2022.
