The Boys creator on the one thing they couldn’t include in the Herogasm episode

The Boys, Herogasm

Over the course of two seasons, The Boys has rarely shied away from all manner of NSFW content, but the upcoming third season will be tackling one of the most infamous arcs from the original comic series. That’s right, The Boys will finally be adapting Herogasm.

If you’re not sure what Herogasm is all about, it’s essentially a superhero orgy that takes place on a secret island where anything goes. The Boys creator Eric Kripke has been talking about Herogasm since the very beginning, but never really thought Amazon would let them do it. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kripke says that getting to do Herogasm feels like a “strange way” for Amazon to reward them for two successful seasons, but there was one moment they weren’t able to bring to the screen. In the Herogasm comic, Homelander tricks a cowardly and dimwitted Soldier Boy into sleeping with him, promising that if he’s good enough in bed, he could join The Seven. As the personality of the TV version of Solider Boy is quite different, with Kripke describing him as “Homelander before Homelander,” this scene just couldn’t play the same way.

I love that scene and it’s hilarious, but for a dozen reasons, all of which will be revealed when you see the season, it ultimately just didn’t track. We talked about it. It conflicted with a lot of the other things we were trying to build with Soldier Boy. So, unfortunately, that one had to go.

While we may not see Homelander and Soldier Boy getting down to business in the Herogasm episode of The Boys, Eric Kripke hints that it’s possible the scene could turn up in the animated anthology series, Diabolical. “I would love to see Soldier Boy and Homelander f—ing,” Kripke said, “but it can’t happen in this show, unfortunately, for reasons everyone understands.” The first three episodes of The Boys season three will debut on Prime Video on June 3rd, with the Herogasm episode slated to drop on June 24th.
