This fall, Universal is proud to present the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling toward love. Maybe. They’re both busy. I’m talking about Bros, which hails from the twisted mind of Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, Bob’s Burgers, Parks and Recreation) and Nicholas Stoller (Neighbors, Forgetting Sarah Marshall). The new Bros trailer teases a smart, swoony, and heartfelt comedy about finding sex, love, and romance amidst all the madness.
Bros centers on Bobby Lieber (Eichner), a celebrated podcast host tasked with writing a romantic comedy about a gay couple for a major Hollywood studio. The catch is that studio wants to film to be something a straight guy might like to watch with his girlfriend. The studio wants a movie that shows how gay relationships are the same as straight ones. Here’s the thing, though; they’re not. Their friendships, sex lives, and relationships are different, which is what makes it all so unique. This concept for this film lays the playing field for some bold messaging and some uproariously funny comedy. I’m all in.
Joining Eichner for Bros are Luke Macfarlane (Killjoys), Monica Raymund (Chicago Fire, Hightown), Jim Rash (Community), Harvey Fierstein (Death to Smoochy, Mrs. Doubtfire), Bowen Yang (Isn’t It Romantic), Amanda Bearse (Married … With Children, Fright Night), and Guillermo Diaz (Scandal, Cop Out).
Judd Apatow, Stoller, and Joshua Church produce, with Eichner also serving as executive producer. Bros will cop a feel in theaters starting on September 10, 2022.
