Lee Daniels & Mo’Nique end 13-year Precious feud after director publicly apologizes

Lee Daniels, Mo'Nique, Precious, feud

I honestly didn’t think I’d see this day come but it actually happened. After 13 years, director Lee Daniels and comedian/actress Mo’Nique have ended their 13-year-old feud that began following the release of the Oscar-nominated film, Precious.

Daniels crashed a New York comedy event put on by Mo’Nique, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her riveting turn in Daniels’ film, Precious. The feud came about because Mo’Nique made the public accusation that Daniels, Oprah Winfrey, and Tyler Perry blackballed her for refusing to promote the 2009 film during awards season. It wasn’t stipulated in her contract to do so and she didn’t want to spend the time away from her family. The feud was VERY public over the years so I guess the apology being so public makes this all come full circle. Here is what Daniels said when he stood in front of the audience of Mo’Nique’s show, Mo’Nique and Friends: April Fools Day and The Queen of Comedy:

“I am so sorry for hurting you in any way that I did. Y’all, and she was my best friend—my best friend. Y’all think that Precious was just…That was God working through both of us. And we’re gonna f***ing do it again!”

By doing it again, Daniels means that they are reteaming on Demon House, with the actress taking over the role vacated by Octavia Spencer. Mo’Nique will portray a social worker who helps a family through a series of exorcisms. The project also stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Rob Morgan, Caleb McLaughlin, and Aunjanue Ellis. Production begins on the Netflix film in June and thus the hatchet has officially been buried between Lee Daniels and Mo’Nique. Some users posted that apology moment to Twitter and while some might question how authentic the moment was, at least they’re finally movie on from a feud that negatively affected her career in the years since her Oscar win.

What are YOUR thoughts on Lee Daniels and Mo’Nique ending their feud?
