John Travolta’s always seemed like a real class act as far as movie stars go, and indeed, he’s taken the time to post a touching tribute to his pal Bruce Willis in the wake of his aphasia diagnosis. Check it out:
Now, here’s the thing to remember – John Travolta is probably more aware of what’s really going on with Willis than most. He recently made a movie with Willis, Paradise City, which ranks as their first team-up since Pulp Fiction way back in 1994. That means Travolta was on-set with him in what’s widely expected to be his on-screen swan song, so he probably got to see first-hand what’s going on.
The Willis/Aphasia diagnosis certainly took the industry but storm these last few days, but the public disclosure of his illness was probably inevitable if you read this L.A Times piece, which is so well-researched that I imagine it was in the works for quite some time. It’s a sad end to one of the most iconic careers, but thankfully, many folks have been reacting with grace, with the Razzies recently rescinding his 2021 “award” for Cosmic Sin. Willis’ movie with Travolta, Paradise City, is due out later this year and hopefully will be a fitting send-off, with it having a pretty good director at the helm, Eraser’s Chuck Russell.
In the meantime, here are a few more nice tributes to Willis from some of his contemporaries:
Dear Bruce Willis, I’m so sorry to hear what you are going through, but you’re still the coolest man I’ve met in my entire life. You will remain in my prayers for a long long time. Maybe we should get together and watch the whole 10 yards and get a couple of hours of sleep.

Paulie Herman and Bruce Willis were part of the soul of Café Central in NYC in the 80’s. What a wild wonderful crazy family we were. It was all ahead of us. Zevon was right-enjoy every sandwich. ?
