Earlier this month, we shared the trailer for the South Korean serial killer thriller Midnight, which Dread Presents will be bringing to select theatres – the Laemmle Glendale and Monica Film Center, to be specific – on April 1st. An On Demand release will follow in North America on April 5th, with the Blu-ray scheduled to reach shelves on May 10th. With the theatrical and On Demand releases now just a few days away, a clip from Midnight has arrived online, and you can check that out in the embed above.
Titled “You Can’t Hear Me”, this clip shows an axe-wielding madman menacing a deaf woman who doesn’t realize he is inside her home. The clip is followed in the video by the film’s trailer.
Midnight marks the feature writing and directing debut of Oh-Seung Kwon. The film tells the following story:
Fear grips the country of South Korea as a serial killer stalks its residents. Kyung-mi, a deaf woman, is out late with her mother when she stumbles upon a young woman bleeding out in a dark alley. Now a witness to the killer’s brutal crime, Kyung-mi is being ruthlessly hunted down. Will she survive or become his victim?
Jin Ki-joo of Little Forest plays Kyung-mi. She is joined in the cast by Wi Ha-Joon, who played the character Hwang Jun-ho on the Netflix series Squid Game, as well as Gil Hae-Yeon (In Her Place), Park Hoon (Descendants of the Sun), and Kim Hye-Yoon (Extraordinary You).
Midnight looks interesting to me, especially after seeing the clip with the killer coming after Kyung-mi with an axe. I might have to put this on my “to watch” list. How does the movie look to you? Will you be watching it next month? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
