The third episode of our Awfully Good Horror Movies video series has just arrived online, and in this one we’re looking at the sci-fi horror film Critters 4 (watch it HERE)… one of the least popular entries in the Critters franchise. Like Jason X, Leprechaun 4, and Hellraiser: Bloodlines, this is one of those movies that sends a formerly Earth-based horror franchise into space sometime in the future – but in this case, it made total sense, because the ravenous creatures that rampaged through the previous three films were from space to begin with. The movie just didn’t turn out so well. To hear what we have to say about Critters 4, check out the embed above.
Directed by Rupert Harvey from a screenplay by Joseph Lyle and David J. Schow (based on a story Harvey crafted with Barry Opper), Critters 4 has the following synopsis:
After killing all the remaining vicious Critter aliens in “Critters 3,” bounty hunter Charlie McFadden is shot into space in a capsule with the last two Critter eggs. In the year 2045, a spaceship commanded by Capt. Rick retrieves the pod and opens it at a defunct space station, which revives Charlie. But while Rick waits for the Terracorps corporation to arrive and take the eggs, they hatch, placing Charlie and the whole crew in mortal danger.
The film stars Don Keith Opper, Terrence Mann, Paul Whitthorne, Anders Hove, Angela Bassett, Brad Dourif, Eric DaRe, and Anne Ramsay, with a vocal performance from Martine Beswick.
