Well everyone, the winners for the 20th Annual Golden Schmoes in the year 2022 are in! As expected, Spider-Man: No Way Home absolutely cleaned up. It took home seven of the big awards, including “Favorite movie”, “Coolest Character” (for Andrew Garfield’s Spidey) and “Most Memorable Scene of the Year”. Given how No Way Home has gone on to become one of the highest-grossing movies of all time (pandemic or no pandemic), this shouldn’t be a shock. People absolutely love this movie. That said, it didn’t break any records for most Golden Schmoes wins of all time, with The Dark Knight still holding that record with a dozen wins.

Some of the biggest surprises include the great Nicolas Cage taking home best actor for Pig. Despite earning Cage some of the best reviews of his career, this wildly underrated movie got totally shut out at the Oscars, so it was cool to see our readers reward it. Given the reviews Cage is getting for the Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, maybe he’ll win next year too? It was also cool to see Nobody win for both “Biggest Surprise” and “Most Underrated” as it happened to open at the height of the pandemic, when most theaters were closed, and never really got a chance to be as big as it could have been had it opened just a few months later.
Overall, this was a great year for the Golden Schmoes. While we took last year off, its return for the 20th edition of the awards was successful, with us getting tons of votes via our official site, where you can also see all of the runners-up.

The streaming version of It’s a Wonderful Life that’s been showing on Pluto, Tubi and Roku is an abomination with a new title and a terrible new musical score.
