The sci-fi horror film Prototype will be receiving a digital and On Demand release in the UK and US on April 5th, and today we’re sharing the trailer to help you decide whether or not this looks like a movie you’d want to check out next month. That trailer is embedded above, and the poster for Prototype can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Directed by Jack Peter Mundy (Amityville Scarecrow) from a screenplay written by first-timer Sam Gurney, Prototype has the following synopsis:
In the near future, life-like androids with artificial intelligence have been created to help people with menial household tasks. The prototype, One, created by Roger Marshall and tested by his family, proves to be popular but flawed. Roger has been working on a new model, Two, whose improved features show promise of its super-human abilities. As tensions rise between Roger and wife Shelley, the androids malfunction and the lives of the whole family are soon in danger of Two’s sinister plans.
The tagline warns, “Your life is in the hands of a Prototype on April 5”.
The film stars Danielle Scott (Spider in the Attic), Stephanie Lodge (Rise of the Mummy), Andrew Rolfe (Beneath the Surface), Jamie Robertson (Conjuring the Genie), and Tom Taplin (It Came from Below), with Zoe Purdy (The Mutation) as Two.
Prototype was produced by Scott Jeffrey and Rebecca Matthews. This duo has made a lot of movies together in recent years, including Beneath the Surface, Exorcist Vengeance, The Gardener, The Bad Nun, Cannibal Troll, Hatched, and many more.
