Dread Presents will be giving the South Korean serial killer thriller Midnight an On Demand release in North America on April 5th, and in anticipation of this release a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above. This seems like a good time to be releasing this movie, because the South Korean series Squid Game was just a massive success for the Netflix streaming service, and Midnight happens to star series cast member Wi Ha-Joon. He played the character Hwang Jun-ho on Squid Game.
Just yesterday, it was confirmed that Wi Ha-Joon recently tested positive for COVID-19. Here’s hoping his symptoms will be minor, or non-existent. He has been vaccinated and boosted, and is self-quarantining to make sure he won’t be spreading the virus.
Midnight marks the feature writing and directing debut of Oh-Seung Kwon. The film tells the following story:
Kyung-mi, a deaf woman, is out late with her mother when she stumbles upon a young woman bleeding out in a dark alley. Now a witness to the killer’s brutal crime, Kyung-mi is being ruthlessly hunted down. Will she survive or become his victim?
Jim Ki-joo plays Kyung-mi. All but one of her previous credits have been in television. Aside from the film Little Forest, her credits include the shows Homemade Love Story, The Secret Life of My Secretary, Come and Hug Me, Moon Lovers, One More Happy Ending, and Splash Splash Love. Wow. Out of context, the titles of these TV shows bring to mind a whole different kind of entertainment.
In addition to Squid Game, Wi Ha-Joon’s credits include Shark: The Beginning, Romance Is a Bonus Book, The Greatest Divorce, Something in the Rain, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, and Bad Guys Always Die.
