Bleecker Street will be giving the mountain climbing survival thriller Infinite Storm, starring Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive), a limited theatrical release on March 25th. Ahead of the release date, a trailer has arrived online and is available to watch in the embed above.
Inspired by a true story, Infinite Storm was written by Joshua Rollins, based on the Reader’s Digest article High Places: Footprints in the Snow Lead to an Emotional Rescue by Ty Gagne. Here’s the synopsis:
As an experienced climber ascends Mt. Washington, she turns back before she reaches the summit as a huge blizzard approaches. But on her way down, she encounters a lone, stranded man, and takes it upon herself to get them both down the mountain before nightfall arrives and they succumb to the storm.
The film was directed by Małgorzata Szumowska (Never Gonna Snow Again). Watts is joined in the cast by Billy Howle (Outlaw King), Denis O’Hare (Dallas Buyers Club), and Parker Sawyers (Southside with You). Rollins also has an acting role in the film. He has acting credits going back to 2007, including an appearance in The Dark Knight, but this is his first writing credit.
Infinite Storm was produced by Jenny Halper, Celine Rattray, Mike Sobiloff, Peter Sobiloff, Trudie Styler, and Watts. Szumowska serves as executive producer alongside Jason De Beer, Shirin Hartmann, Andrew Karpen, Nic Marshall, Kent Sanderson, Nick Shumaker, and Rollins. Radoslawa Bardes, Jackie Donohoe, Jacek Kulczycki, Dominika Kulczyk, and Magdalena Zimecka were co-producers. Diego Zanco was line producer. That’s a long list.
Judging by the trailer, it looks to me like Infinite Storm will make for a good, thrilling viewing experience, and Watts can always be counted on to turn in a strong performance. She really seems to like playing characters who have to get through intense situations, too.
