Texas Chainsaw 3D stunt double shares behind-the-scenes pictures of herself as Sally Hardesty

When I went to see Texas Chainsaw 3D (watch it HERE) in the theatre back in 2013, I enjoyed the movie well enough… but my favorite thing about the experience was seeing the recap clips from the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (watch that one HERE) at the beginning, all cleaned up and converted into 3D. There were some changes made in those clips – Bill Moseley was put in the place of Jim Siedow as The Cook, and there was an extra camera angle in the moment where Sally Hardesty escapes from the house of horrors by jumping through a window. A slow-motion shot from below the window as Sally crashes through it. As it turns out, for that new shot Sally was played by Elena Sanchez – who was the stunt double for the movie’s heroine Alexandra Daddario for the rest of the production.

We know this now because Sanchez shared a couple pictures of herself wearing the costume and wig she had to put on to match original Sally actress Marilyn Burns and her original stunt double, Mary Church. In one picture, she’s alone, but in the other she’s joined by Moseley and Gunnar Hansen, who played Leatherface in the first Chainsaw and cameos as a different character in Texas Chainsaw 3D.

With a story credited to Stephen Susco, Adam Marcus, and Debra Sullivan, and a screenplay by Marcus, Sullivan, and Kirsten Elms, Texas Chainsaw 3D has the following synopsis:

Decades ago, residents of Newt, Texas, long suspected that the Sawyer family was responsible for the disappearances of many people. When their suspicions finally were confirmed, vigilantes torched the Sawyer compound and killed every member of the family — or so they thought. Much later, a young woman named Heather (Alexandra Daddario) learns that she has inherited Texas property from an unknown relative, and she is unaware of horrors that await in the mansion’s dank cellar.

The film was directed by John Luessenhop. Daddario, Moseley, and Hansen were joined in the cast by Tremaine “Trey Songz” Neverson, Scott Eastwood, Tania Raymonde, Shaun Sipos, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, James MacDonald, Thom Barry, Paul Rae, Richard Riehle, John Dugan, and Marilyn Burns (playing a different character, like Hansen did), with Dan Yeager as Leatherface.

The latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel was released through the Netflix streaming service last Friday (and had a successful first weekend). Texas Chainsaw 3D will be joining it on Netflix US on March 1st. It has already been on Netflix in some countries for a while, including on Netflix in Brazil, where it has the inexplicable title Texas Exchange.
