After traveling a long and winding road, the Better Call Saul final season premiere date is upon us.
The Breaking Bad prequel will launch its sixth and final season on April 18 – nearly two years after AMC aired the season finale for season five. The 13-episode season will be broken into two parts. The first seven episodes of the season will run through April and May. After a six-week hiatus, the final episodes will begin airing on July 11.
AMC teased the premiere date for Better Call Saul‘s final season on Monday with a brief promo featuring the Salamanca cousins. If you studied the footage closely, evidence markers at a crime scene hinted at the premiere date for season six.
“In my eyes, this is our most ambitious, surprising, and, yes, heartbreaking season,” said co-creator and showrunner Peter Gould in a statement. “Even under incredibly challenging circumstances, the whole Saul team — writers, cast, producers, directors, and crew — have outdone themselves. I couldn’t be more excited to share what we’ve accomplished together.”
Better Call Saul co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould plan on wrapping up all the loose ends when the show makes its return after a two-year absence. “I don’t want to say we’ve got it all figured out. I’m very happy to have Vince in the writers’ room this season, even though we’re doing it remotely because we’re getting to finish this thing that we started together. But we’re deep in the struggle. Even though we have ideas about where we’re going, we’re always ready to jettison them,” Gould told Rolling Stone in 2020. “We have these 13 episodes, and that’s it. There’s no ‘eventually’ anymore.”
With Odenkirk back in fighting form and plenty of threads to weave together before the end of the series, Better Call Saul fans have much to look forward to when the show makes its triumphant return.
