It looks like Robert Pattinson’s run as The Batman is going to start earlier than expected, with Warner Bros announcing today that they’re going to be holding special “fan screenings” in 350 IMAX theatres on March 1st. Tickets went on sale today and, according to THR, have already sold out in a bunch of places. Fans who aren’t able to get tickets will have to wait until the early Thursday evening screenings prior to its official March 4th launch.
The Batman is shaping up to be the first major U.S blockbuster since Spider-Man: No Way Home in December. Box office estimates are bullish, with many expecting Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated film to set a record for DC films. That said, the three-hour running time means fewer shows, and Reeves and company are promising a different kind of Batman film than we’re used to. Whether or not fans will warm to the dark and gritty take on the character remains to be seen. Still, given that they’re screening it for fans days before it opens, I’m pretty optimistic that WB has the goods with this one and that once Pattinson makes his debut, we’ll have an awesome new Caped Crusader to follow for years and years to come.
