The Boys animated spinoff Diabolical gets an Amazon Prime release date

The Boys are getting animated this spring! That’s right, lovers of Adult animation, The Boys animated spinoff is headed your way, and it won’t be taking any prisoners. Set to debut March 4, The Boys Presents: Diabolical features eight episodes that display their own animation style. The Boys animated spinoff will focus on untold stories hailing from the rough and tumble world created by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen. Diabolical will debut in its entirety upon launch.

Writing the new stories are some of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters such as Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer, Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland, Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler.

“We’re almost finished with eight episodes of our animated series, Diabolical. We gathered together some incredible creators and we gave them one rule…just kidding, there’s no rules. They blew the doors off it,” The Boys executive producer/showrunner Eric Kripke said about the series last year.

This is the second The Boys spinoff ordered by Amazon Prime Video after a YA superhero college series was also given the green light. The Boys spinoff series will be set at America’s only college for young-adult superheroes, which happens to be run by Vought International, and has been described as “an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.” Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, who previously ran Agent Carter, have boarded the spinoff series as showrunners, taking over from Craig Rosenberg, who departed following creative differences.
