Bring It On: Cheer or Die cast will include Kerri Medder, Tiera Skovbye

Seven months ago, Universal announced that they’re teaming with Syfy to make a horror thriller entry in their long-running Bring It On franchise. Now further details on the project have finally been revealed – starting with the news that, while it was originally being referred to as Bring It On: Halloween, it now sports the title Bring It On: Cheer or Die, and the cast is starting to flesh out.

Coming to us from Universal 1440 Entertainment and Beacon Pictures, Bring It On: Cheer Or Die is directed by Karen Lam (Ghost Wars) from a screenplay by Rebekah McKendry (All the Creatures Were Stirring) and Dana Schwartz (She-Hulk), based on a story by Alyson Fouse (Bring It On: Fight to the Finish). The film will follow

a cheer squad as they practice their routines overnight in an abandoned school during Halloween weekend where one-by-one, the teens fall victim to a deranged assailant.

Kerri Medders (SEAL Team), Tiera Skovbye (Midnight Sun), and Missi Pyle (Y: The Last Man) star.

Bring It On: Cheer or Die is being produced by Griff Furst, with Beacon Pictures’ Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons executive producing and Tony Gonzalez and C. Eve Stewart co-producing. Gonzalez is also the choreographer.

Universal 1440 Entertainment’s Glenn Ross had this to say about the project:

We are excited to team up with SYFY to continue this ever-popular franchise with an all-new installment from renowned filmmaker Karen Lam, the very first female director of the movie series. Featuring a fresh take on the franchise’s historically comedic films, this next chapter showcases a multi-talented diverse cast and will entertain long-time Bring It On movie fans as well as open the doors to the legion of fans who enjoy thrillers.”

The Bring It On franchise got started with a 2000 theatrical release. Five direct-to-video sequels have followed: Bring It On Again, Bring It On: All or Nothing, Bring It On: In It to Win It, Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, and Bring It On: Worldwide Cheersmack.

The seventh entry in the franchise, Bring It On: Cheer or Die will be released “on non-theatrical platforms worldwide” and will also air on Syfy in Fall 2022.
