Vertical Entertainment will be giving director Jamie Patterson’s psychological horror thriller The Kindred an On Demand and limited theatrical release on January 7th, and today we’ve gotten our hands on the film’s trailer. You can check it out in the embed above!

In case you’re wondering, this movie called The Kindred has nothing to do with the horror movie of the same name that was released in January of 1987.

Written by Christian J. Hearn, Patterson’s The Kindred tells the following story:

After her father’s suicide, a young mother investigates what led to his death. But when she is haunted by spirits and unearths an unsolved mystery from 30 years ago, she discovers a dark family history that could prove deadly for her child.

The film stars April Pearson (Skins), Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners), James Cosmo (Highlander), and Samantha Bond, who played Moneypenny during the Pierce Brosnan era of James Bond films.

Patterson and Hearn previously collaborated on the 2016 mystery thriller Fractured, which also starred Pearson. Patterson and Pearson also happen to be in a relationship, and it was just announced today that they’re expecting a child together, with a due date in April. So The Kindred will be out in the world for a few months before their baby arrives.

I can’t say the trailer for The Kindred gets me very hyped, but I do like that the story involves a character called Sackhead, which for me brings to mind The Town That Dreaded Sundown and Friday the 13th Part 2. The movie had its world premiere at the Arrow Video FrightFest earlier this year, and appears to have been positively received there.

How does The Kindred look to you? Will you be watching this movie in January? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
