Red Notice is officially Netflix’s biggest movie ever

If you read my review of Red Notice (or watched the video above), you’ll know that I was not a fan of the much-hyped Dwayne Johnson/Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot team-up. While the production values were impressive considering it was shot during COVID, the movie itself was incredibly generic, with recycled action scenes and characters playing so close to type you wonder why any of them signed on in the first place (well, there’s the money I guess). Yet, it can’t be denied that the film has been a massive hit with viewers, with Netflix boasting about its performance for weeks now. While it previously ranked behind the Sandra Bullock vehicle Bird Box in terms of views, the latest stats from Netflix Top 10 show that Red Notice is now officially their biggest movie ever – with 328,800,000 hours viewed in twenty-eight days. Whatever my thoughts are on the movie, those stats are pretty impressive, so those back-to-back sequels director Rawson Marshall Thurber talked about may well happen. In addition, the top 10 list itself is pretty interesting, with it showing that movies like Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and even the much-maligned 6 Underground were solid performers for the service, dwarfing the views of the much-hyped The Old Guard.

In other Netflix Top 10 news, Red Notice, unsurprisingly topped the most-watched chart again this week. However, Halle Berry’s directorial debut, Bruised, was right behind it, with over 47,000,000 hours views compared to Red Notice’s 50 million-plus. Not a bad debut at all for a gritty, adult MMA drama, and one can see why Halle Berry just signed a new deal to make movies for Netflix – the lady still has a ton of fans (we love her too).
