Spider-Man producer won’t make more Spidey movies without Tom Holland

As the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home approaches, Tom Holland is in a particularly daunting place. Having played the character since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, this is the first time that he’s not contractually obligated to do more. No Way Home is the final film within his initial contract and even though Holland has said he can see himself playing the character for many more films, he has also recently expressed that doesn’t know what the future holds and may need to question things if he’s still playing him after he’s 30. At 25-years-old, the world is his oyster but one person who has no interest in more Spider-Man films without him is producer, Amy Pascal.

Tom Holland is profiled in the latest issue of “GQ” and along with the interview from Holland, those closest to him are also interviewed to give insight into the popular young actor. Amy Pascal, who is a producer on the Spider-Man films and is a former Sony chairperson, commented on whether she will ever make more Spider-Man movies if Holland isn’t in the lead role. According to the article, Pascal rejected the idea almost immediately and shared that she has expressed her interest with him to do many more movies. Pascal said, “I’ve talked to him about doing, like, 100 more. I’m never going to make Spider-Man movies without him. Are you kidding me?”

Comments like this always make me chuckle a bit because, if Tom Holland was to vacate the role, Sony and Marvel would eventually figure out a plan B because there is too much money to be made off of the IP. If the money is right, Pascal would move on to the next up-and-coming star destined to spin his web. That being said, I also think the comment solidifies that they will do whatever is necessary to keep Holland for a few more films moving forward. He may not have a contract to do more movies as of now but I’m sure plans are being set in motion to decide what to do with the character after No Way Home and I’m pretty sure those plans involve Tom Holland. The full “GQ” article shows just how much of a hard worker Holland really is and any studio would be lucky enough to be involved with someone who has that much tenacity. It was revealed in the article that Holland had a three-day break between shooting Uncharted, another Sony film, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. If anything he might want a little break once the film is released and the publicity tour is over but with some fresh perspective, I’m pretty sure he’ll find he’s not done with Spider-Man just yet either.

Spider-Man: No Way Home brings back Tom Holland as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man and he will be joined by Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, and J.B. Smoove. The third film will once again be directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

What do YOU think Tom Holland’s Spider-Man future will be?
