John Wick prequel series The Continental casts Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun, and Jeremy Bobb

The John Wick prequel series The Continental has added three new members to its cast. The three-episode series, which is happening at Starz, will now see Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun, and Jeremy Bobb (Russian Doll, The Outsider) checking into the high-end haven for assassins.

Greene will play Uncle Charlie, a younger version of David Patrick Kelly’s character from the films, who disposes of bodies and cleans up crime scenes for criminals. Many will know Greene as the villain Dorian from 1994’s The Mask, though he’s also appeared in films like Pulp Fiction, Blue Streak, and Training Day, just to name a few. Newcomer Ayomide Adegun will play Charon, the Continental’s concierge played by Lance Reddick in the films. Last but not least, Bobb will play Mayhew, a new character to the franchise.

The Continental will explore the origin behind the hotel-for-assassins, which increasingly has become the centerpiece of the John Wick universe. This will be accomplished through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals.

Greene, Adegun, and Bobb join previously announced cast members Colin Woodell, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, Mishel Prada, Jessica Allain, Hubert Point-Du Jour, and Mel Gibson.

“What we’re exploring in The Continental is the young Winston and how it came to be that he and his team of confederates found their way into this hotel which we have met for the first time in the movie franchise 40 years later,” said Lionsgate TV’s Kevin Beggs. “That’s the arena. I won’t give away more than that, but Starz leaned into this take also, and they have been great collaborators. And how we’ve approached this first season is as three essentially 90-minute events which you could construe as a limited series or a limited event series.”

Now that casting is ramping up, it’s only a matter of time before cameras start to roll on the John Wick prequel series.

In other John Wick-related news, it was recently announced that Ana de Armas is in talks to star in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina. The John Wick spinoff has been in the works for quite some time and is said to revolve around a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family. Ballerina has been scripted by Shay Hatten, who penned John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Army of the Dead, and will be directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld). It’s not clear if Keanu Reeves will make an appearance in the movie, but Deadline says that there’s hope that he could make a cameo alongside Angelica Huston, who played The Director in Parabellum.
