Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham will have a serious foe on their hands as Deadline has reported that Iko Uwais has joined the cast of The Expendables 4 as the villain.
Best known for kicking all sorts of ass in The Raid and The Raid 2, Iko Uwais was most recently seen playing Hard Master in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Although the plot of The Expendables 4 is still being kept under wraps, it’s said that Iko Uwais will play a “former military officer turned arms dealer with his own private army.” Sounds good, I just hope they don’t waste Uwais’ considerable talents.
The Expendables 4 will feature Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Andy Garcia. The film is being directed by Scott Waugh from a screenplay by Spenser Cohen with revisions by Max Adams and John Joseph Connolly. Production on the Expendables sequel is ongoing, but Sylvester Stallone recently announced that he had completed work on the film and was “ready to pass the baton on to Jason [Statham] and his capable hands.” Although Stallone may be done with The Expendables franchise, he did tease that he’s “getting ready to accept the next challenge.“
In addition to Expendables 4, Iko Uwais also has Wu Assassins: Fistful of Vengeance for Netflix on the way. The film will serve as a follow up to the Wu Assassins series, which starred Uwais as Kai Jin, a young Chinatown chef in present day San Francisco who become entangled with the Chinese Triad’s pursuit of deadly ancient powers known as the “Wu Xing.” After an encounter with a mystical spirit, Kai reluctantly becomes the Wu Assassin, using his enhanced martial arts skills to recover supernatural powers from five modern day criminals threatening to use them to destroy the world.
