Disney had to remind Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt that they were on a press tour promoting a family film because a bit of explicit banter between the two performers earned them a call from the Mouse House.
During a chat with Cinemablend, Blunt revealed that their easygoing chemistry while making Jungle Cruise transferred over to when the two had to do press for the film over the summer. During one interview, the two actors were asked what items they would take into the jungle with them. Johnson told Blunt she should bring Vagisil, to which she replied that Johnson should bring anal beads. The moment made for a funny interview but Disney called them soon after seeing the interview and suggested that they tone down their explicit banter. Blunt said, “I can’t tell you how quick we got those calls: ‘We really love your chemistry and what you guys are doing, but can we dial it back a little bit on the anal beads?”
Johnson and Blunt’s press tour was honestly the best thing about Jungle Cruise. You can tell they became fast friends while making the film and their chemistry was evident during every interview they gave to promote the movie. Even most of the film’s positive reviews pointed to their chemistry on-screen and that obviously translated into real life. Sometimes you talk about Vagisil and anal beads with your friends. These things happen.
Jungle Cruise is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and is set during the early 20th century. In the film, a riverboat captain named Frank (Dwayne Johnson) takes a scientist (Emily Blunt) and her brother (Jack Whitehall) on a mission into a jungle to find the Tree of Life which is believed to possess healing powers. All the while the trio must fight against dangerous wild animals and a competing German expedition. The film also stars Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti, Andy Nyman, Quim Gutierrez, Dani Rovira, Veronica Falcon, and Simone Lockhart.
What are YOUR thoughts on Johnson and Blunt’s explicit banter being too much for Disney?
