The Polish slasher movie Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight was released through the Netflix streaming service on October 28, 2020, and it has now been confirmed that the sequel Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight Part 2 will be available to watch on Netflix as of October 27, 2021. That brings it home just in time for Halloween viewings, and it’s good to see a slasher sequel made at the sort of speed they used to make these things with in the 1980s glory days.

Directed by Bartosz M. Kowalski, who also wrote the script with Jan Kwiecinski and Mirella Zaradkiewicz, the first Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight began

innocently enough – a group of technology addicted teenagers finds themselves in an off-line camp. However hiking in the woods with no smartphone in sight will not go as planned. They will have to fight for their lives against things they never have seen before, even in the darkest reaches of the Internet. Faced against the dangers lurking in the forest, they will find true friendship, love and sacrifce. Will they come out of it in one piece, or in bloody bits?

Kowalski is back at the helm for Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight Part 2, and again wrote the screenplay with Zaradkiewicz. The first film’s Julia Wieniawa is also back for the sequel, which has the following synopsis:

Adaś is a young, lonely, unhappy policeman from a small village in Podlasie. Ignored by his colleagues and beautiful and extremely confident Wanessa, the shy boy is looking for his place in the world. In the sequel, we will also learn more about the fate of Zosia, who will show a completely new and surprising face. The film is a perverse, ironic, grotesque and bloody story about looking for love and discovering one’s own self in a world that divides us more than it unites us. It’s a slasher that will turn genre rules upside down this time.

Produced by Akson Studio, the film also stars Mateusz Więcławek, Zofia Wichłacz, Andrzej Grabowski, Wojciech Mecwaldowski, Izabela Dąbrowska, Sebastian Stankiewicz, and Robert Wabich.

I watched Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight last year, but it has gotten quite foggy in my memory. I’m going to have to rewatch the first one before I watch the sequel – which I am definitely going to do. It was a pleasant surprise to see the sequel listed as part of Netflix’s “Netflix and Chills” line-up a couple weeks ago; I had no idea it had been made until it appeared on that list.
