A new episode of our Real Slashers series has just appeared online, and in this one we’re looking at one of Jamie Lee Curtis’s non-Halloween slasher classics, Prom Night! The 1980 version of Prom Night can be viewed on Amazon Prime at THIS LINK, and to see the Real Slashers episode click on the image above. You need to be at least 18 years old for YouTube to let you see episodes of this series, because slasher movies are often packed with gore and nudity, so we couldn’t shy away from those things in episodes of this show.
Directed by Paul Lynch from a screenplay by William Gray (who was working from a story by Robert Guza Jr.), Prom Night has the following synopsis:
This slasher movie follows a relentless killer who is out to avenge the death of a young girl who died after being bullied and teased by four of her classmates. Now high-school students, the guilt-ridden kids have kept their involvement a secret, but when they start being murdered, one by one, it’s clear that someone knows the truth. Also coping with the past are members of the dead girl’s family, most notably her prom-queen sister, Kim Hammond (Jamie Lee Curtis).
Curtis was joined in the cast by Leslie Nielsen, Casey Stevens, Eddie Benton, Michael Tough, Robert A. Silverman, Mary Beth Rubens, Pita Oliver, and Sheldon Rybowski.
Here’s what Real Slashers is all about:
Ahhh the 80’s. A simpler time where the blood ran red, the boobies swung freely, and the weed was copiously smoked. A time where rampant killers were simply excuses for excessive sex and over the top murder. Yes, we’re looking at an era where the slasher movie ran wild over cinemas everywhere. Today, we’re looking at “Real Slashers.”
The show is Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
