When Star Trek: Prodigy premieres on Paramount+ later this year, composer Michael Giacchino will help bring it to life. The composer, who scored Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond, returned to the franchise to write the main theme for the latest Star Trek series. You can check out the main title sequence above!

I am excited that I had the opportunity to write the main theme for Kevin and Dan’s latest project, and as always am thrilled to be a part of the ‘Star Trek’ family,” said Michael Giacchino in a statement. “I’m especially looking forward to everyone hearing the incredible work of composer Nami Melumad, who will take the reins of scoring the episodes. Not only is she extremely talented, she is a true ‘Star Trek’ fan.” The sequence features the starship at the heart of the series, the U.S.S. Protostar, flying amidst enormous representations of the series’ main characters. You can also see the ship reveal a third nacelle from its secondary hull, which is likely a part of the ship’s experimental drive.

Star Trek: Prodigy follows a motley crew of young aliens who must learn to work together to use an abandoned starship and search for adventure in the Delta Quadrant. The abandoned starship also includes an emergency training hologram that takes the form of Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), who teaches the young crew how to operate the ship and what the Federation stands for. In addition to Kate Mulgrew, the series also features the voices of Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Angus Imrie as Zero, Brett Gray as Dal, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, Jimmi Simpson as Drednok, and John Noble as The Diviner.

The official synopsis for Star Trek: Prodigy:

The CG-animated series STAR TREK: PRODIGY is the first “Star Trek” series aimed at younger audiences and will follow a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future.
