Written By Serena Whitney:
A while back I wrote
an article about
top ten dumb chick victims . Although I thought my article was filled with light humor and was not to
be taken too seriously, there were a few peeved women readers out there who didn’t think the
same. Of course, that’s their freaking problem. Only positive thing
that came out of their whining was that it inspired me to
make this list.
In a lot of cases, women in scary movies fit within two
categories, the victims or the heroines. But, there have been women in
horror that have been able to give the audience the heebie-jeebies as well.
Here is my list of the top ten lady-killers that have freaked me out. (And
hopefully I will be able to please both male and female horror fans!)
WARNING – SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!
10. Peyton
Flanders-The Hand That Rocked The Cradle
I first saw this movie
when I was nine years old, and I used to pray to God that my parents never
got so busy that they needed to hire a nanny to look after my brother and I.
In this Fatal Attraction meets The Nanny thriller, we got to
see the former sexpot, Rebecca De Mornay, go completely insane, kill anyone
who got in her way of ruining Claire’s (Annabella Sciorra) life, and going
off on a school bully in a very inappropriate way. In my opinion, Peyton was
probably one of the most popular villains in the nineties.
9.
Mallory-Natural Born Killers
I was so disturbed by this movie when I first saw it.
Sure, now I realize it was supposed to be depicted as a satire, but when I
watched this, all I could think about was the Charles Starkweather and Caril
Fugate case. It freaked me out that there were people out there actually
like that.
Mallory (Juliette Lewis) creeped me out, because seeing
a woman kill people with no absolutely no remorse (expect for the Indian
they killed in the movie) was so taboo. I was more angry with her
character, because women usually don’t have that ‘violence’ in them.
8. “Debbie
Salt”-Scream 2
When I first watched
this movie, I couldn’t believe my eyes when Laurie Metcalf was chasing Neve
Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott on the stage with a huge knife and a
crazed look in her eyes. I kept thinking to myself, ‘Wow..I can’t believe
that’s Jackie from Roseanne!’ Even though it was quite obvious from
the moment her character showed up in the movie that she was one of the
killers, her over the top moments and dark sense of humor made up for it.
7. Sil-Species
I’m not afraid to admit I loved this movie. It was
quite amusing seeing a movie about an alien-human hybrid (Natasha Henstridge)
killing a bunch of stupid and horny men. To me, this movie seemed liked an
analogy to the repercussions of having unsafe sex with total strangers.
Although, I wish they stopped with this one, because the last two sequels
have been awful. I don’t even want to think about the next installment that
is coming out soon.
6. Angela-Night of the Demons
I am a huge fan of the
Night of the Demons series. The first one to me never gets old. I
can watch it over and over again. (particularly around the Halloween season
with a bunch of booze) It actually took me years to watch the film, because
as a child, the cover of the movie with the hideous demon, Angela holding up
an invitation scared the f*ck out of me.
Although some people
may think this movie is dated, I still get a little creeped out seeing
Angela floating down the halls of Hull House to butcher the next doomed
teen. (But that famous Angela dance could have seriously been cut down!)
