Ever since my grandmother passed out at a drive
in while watching Alfred Hitchcock’s
PSYCHO, (she was also pregnant at the
time no less!) the film has always been held in high regards in the scare
category amongst my family. So when I first heard that Robert Galluzzo was putting together a documentary on the
PSYCHO film’s I was ecstatic.
Well a new clip from the documentary,
entitled THE PSYCHO LEGACY is now up on the films
official
MySpace page and it’s got my giddy as a school girl. The clip shows
HATCHET director Adam Green as he discusses how the characters from
PSYCHO have impacted him as well as how
he feels that these may be the most sympathetic characters in horror history.
THE PSYCHO LEGACY is
a documentary chronicling the entire PSYCHO franchise – including the original
movie, the sequels, the TV movies, the Robert Bloch novels and the Innovation
comic books. It’s meant to examine and look at the complete history of a pop
culture icon. Norman Bates. And more importantly… Mother. Interviews include
several people involved in all the PSYCHO films, as well as various
professionals currently in the horror industry whom were inspired by PSYCHO and
it’s sequels. The object of the film is to both reflect and remind people that
the PSYCHO films have their set place in horror history and are still
relevant and loved by genre fans of today.
This really is one of the greatest horror films
of all time, and I don’t know anyone whose seen it and hasn’t walked away with
at least one aspect of it that they’ve enjoyed. It’s become a cultural icon that
nearly everyone is familiar with. This film itself is looking like it’s going to
be pretty awesome, so hop on over to the
official
MySpace page and check out what will hopefully be the first in a long
line of clips about this way cool documentary.
