Yeti Comes At You

When was the last time you’ve seen a horror film about the abominable snowman? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one because all I can remember are stupid fantasy/comedies that do not do the snow dweller justice. In a world where beef jerky commercials feature Sasquatch, all I want is to see a yeti massacre a bunch of people, preferably high school/college students. This dream is coming true.

Though it is premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel, YETI: CURSE OF THE SNOW DEMON has fulfilled a childhood dream of mine. To see a yeti for what it really is. The film is being produced by American World Pictures and stars Carly Pope (Dirt, 10.5 Apocalypse), Peter DeLuise (21 Jump Street, Stargate SG-1), Ona Grauer (House of the Dead), and Crystal Lowe (Final Destination 3, Black Christmas, Wrong Turn 2: Dead End). Crystal Lowe? I’m sold.

“After their plane crashes into uncharted territory in the snowy Himalayan Mountains, the surviving members of a college football team led by quarterback Peyton Marino set out to find help in a freezing cold blizzard. As days pass with no rescue in sight, food and morale run low and some of the survivors, including team manager Sarah (Carly Pope) battle their consciences as they make the heartrending decision that in order to survive, they must use the dead bodies of their teammates as a food source. But their biggest danger is lurking nearby; a hungry beast that stalks them with an insatiable bloodlust. The Yeti.

With only a few hours of daylight left in the day, the group struggle along the rocky cliffs in a desperate search to find Sarah. Coming face to face with the Yeti, they battle it out in hopes of making it to a helicopter rendezvous that will save them from this snowy hell. But with the Yeti fiercely killing them one by one, can they make it to the mountain top in time to escape?”

Now Sci-Fi Channel movies aren’t the cream of the crop, in fact most of them are pretty unbearable. But man, a yeti, hot chicks and fierce snowy massacring, how could one go wrong? The film was directed by Paul Ziller and written by Rafael Jordan. To watch the trailer click here.
