Strangeland 2 is on?

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

Dig this – it’s almost two years ago to the day that we last reported on STRANGELAND 2. Obviously, we haven’t seen it yet, mostly because of legal issues involving the original flick’s production company, but maybe also because I don’t know a single person who gives a flying f*ck about this project. The first movie is terrible – really putrid – and I can’t imagine the sequel will be any better. Just one dude’s opinion…

STRANGELAND: DISCIPLE is apparently moving forward anyway, and writer-star Dee Snider spoke with Fangoria about what we can expect from lame – er – super-scary villain “Captain Howdy” (who went out in a blaze of glory at STRANGELAND’s conclusion) this time around. “Trust me, I came up with a convincing way to bring Captain Howdy back that’s not a cheat. His new look—multiple burns, mismatched tattooed flesh from skin grafts—is totally horrific. Since the original STRANGELAND came out and inspired the likes of SAW and the whole torture porn craze, I really have to up the ante. We want to go beyond the limits of horror with STRANGELAND: DISCIPLE and blaze new trails.”

So it’s Dee Snider we have to “thank” for the torture-porn craze? Hmm, first I’ve heard of it.

Snider goes on to say: “With the sequel, we’re shooting for an NC-17 rating right out of the box. Plus, there will be an R-rated version if we want to go wider with the theatrical release later on down the line.”

Robert England will return as “Jackson Roth”, and Snider also wants Linda Cardellini (who has gone on to star in ER and SCOOBY-DOO) to come back, although the phrase “pipe dream” probably doesn’t even begin to comment on that… For the full interview, head on over to FANGO.
