Top 10: Anticipated For ’10 #2

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

It’s that time again to look ahead at some of the most exciting flicks set to open in the next year. And we’ve got some good stuff, more so than last year by far in my opinion.

Just outside of genre is bringing us such promising looks as CLASH OF THE TITANS, THE BOOK OF ELI, and of course, THE EXPENDABLES. So it’s gonna be a fun year for genre fans even when the flick isn’t exactly horror.

But fear not, there’s plenty of slaughter, mayhem, and downright nasty coming in 2010 to get your gore on. And if something you’re looking forward to didn’t make the list, spit bullets to let us know.

As to the New Year’s celebrations that are going on, be safe, because I trust you not to be good!

WARNING – POTENTIAL GREATNESS BELOW!

5. MY SOUL TO TAKE

Wes Craven returns to what he does best and we’re all hoping for a better outcome than the appropriately titled CURSED. This tale of kids who may or may not be in danger from a serial killer who may or may be dead promises plenty of opportunity for exploitation of his popular SCREAM formula. Here’s hoping it comes across as refreshing instead of a retread.

4. PIRANHA 3-D

Outside of a movie like AVATAR, I think the whole 3-D thing is basically marketing bullshite and would love for it to go away. That said, you give me Alexandre Aja handling underwater terror, bikini clad babes, and Elisabeth Shue, I’m there even if it’s in Terrorvision. This looks to me like the front runner by far for best “fun” genre flick of the year.

3. LEGION

I know a lot of people have reacted negatively to the early trailers and clips for this, which I’ll admit I do not understand at all. That diner scene looks totally badass, Paul Bettany is once again looking ready to rumble, and the whole apocalyptic throwdown seems like a made to order good time to me. Maybe some aren’t buying granny demons and spidery ice cream men, but I was sold from the get go.

2. DAYBREAKERS

Here’s our second contender on the list for best “serious” horror flick of the year. Ironically it’s story is very much BLADE II without Blade. I can’t quite pinpoint why I feel so strongly this is going to kick ass, after all the humans are food angle has been played many times in many ways, but each time I see new clips I have a strong sense of impending awesomeness. Don’t let me down Ethan!

1. PREDATORS

I’m pretty well sporting a Cialis call your doctor type boner for this flick. Robert Rodriguez has never let me down when it comes to a movie he made for adults. Sure I’d rather he was directing it, but I’ll happily take produced and co-written by. And while it puts me in the minority, I’m someone who likes, but does not love the original PREDATOR. I think the announced cast so far sounds awesome AND intriguing – yes, even Adrien Brody. Plus we can hopefully expect get back to down and dirty ultraviolence.
