Poster for this month’s re-release of Avatar: Special Edition is boring

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

For a movie that made somewhere around a gazillion dollars, it may seem weird that 20th Century Fox is re-releasing it in theaters with a whopping 8 extra minutes of 3D epicness. I mean, it’s not like they need the money or anything, and since the Blu-ray/DVD was as barebones as they get, it seems they should have just included the 8 minutes on the disc, but hey… money talks and bullshit walks, so here we are with AVATAR hitting 2D/3D theaters once again on August 27th.

A new poster has been released for the re-release, featuring an extreme close-up of Neytir aka Zoe Saldana. And that’s it. Goddamn I hate this new poster. The biggest f*cking movie ever made is being re-released in theaters just 8 months after it’s initial release and global take-over, and THIS is the poster they use to lure more people back to theaters? This? I’m gonna call it right now: EPIC FAIL.

Show us Pandora, show us some action, go old school and somehow manage to squeeze the floating heads of everyone in the film in this one tiny box, but just close-up of Neytir’s mug? For f*ck’s sake…

They also released the international release schedule, so take note if you’ll be out of North America for a while but still need your AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION fix.

* Belgium – September 8, 2010

* Russia – August 26, 2010

* Spain – September 17, 2010

* UK – August 27, 2010

* Australia – August 26, 2010

* India – August 27, 2010

* Japan – October 16, 2010

* South Korea – September 16, 2010

* Mexico – October 15, 2010

* Argentina – September 16, 2010

So basically, if you live in Mexico and don’t want to wait 2 months to see it, hop the board to California or Texas (not Arizona) for a quick matinee or something. Sorry Japan, but it’ll take way more effort for you to do that, though Australia’s relatively close…

Check out the full (sh*tty) poster below and get ready for those extra 8 minutes to blow your mind (both of them) in 2D/3D in theaters August 27, 2010.
