Speak to dolls in A.D. Calvo’s psycho-thriller The Melancholy Fantastic!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

The official website for A.D. Calvo’s THE MELANCHOLY FANTASTIC has just launched the first trailer to his next indie flick. A.D. Calvo is an Argentine writer who helmed the film THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS in 2008. TRACKS became a hit throughout indie cinemas and is still making rounds today. Now, after a couple of years of promoting TRACKS, Calvo has found another pet project and by the footage seen so far in the trailer it’s a real head breaker.

After the first look you’ll get the general idea of what the film’s about and maybe not even that long before you begin to notice the kind of space we’re drifting into here. Here’s a peek at the synopsis to get you warmed up: Against the objections of a life-size paper doll, a delusional young woman falls for a Goth in this unconventional holiday story. The Melancholy Fantastic weaves elements of classical existentialism into a disturbing psychological holiday thriller.

Oh and it is psychological alright. If you’re interested in existentialism and paper dolls then you can check out the trailer right herePretentiously artsy or deviously creative? What are your thoughts on the trailer? If you dig this then look out for the film’s release sometime during the holiday season.

Feeling gloomy? Here’s a pic from Keeley Hazell to lift your spirits.
