Alex Proyas shows Lucifer in 3D in upcoming Paradise Lost!

Anyone up for a little classic literature turned 3D epic? Sure you are! Variety has just got the scoop that Alex Proyas (KNOWING, THE CROW) is looking to bring the devil himself into the third dimension in a little ol’ project called PARADISE LOST.

Proyas has just signed a deal with Legendary Pictures “to direct an adaptation of the epic 17th century English poem by John Milton. The poem concerns the Christian story of the Fall of Man: the temptation of Adam and Eve by the fallen angel Satan and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden.”

Although the poem has lots of material that Proyas can utilize into a full scale film, the director of KNOWING is looking to do something a little more concentrated. (Proyas’s) project tells the story of the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, and will be crafted as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D.

If you’re into seeing Lucifer wield a sword amid all his horny minions or if LEGION just didn’t do it for ya then check this little sucker out. Sure there might be a prologue/ introduction that’ll explain certain key events but knowing Proyas the guy will probably carve his own story that use certain contexts. Most likely it won’t have the entire epic but that’s just my guess.

Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni of Legendary Pictures will produce. It seems the script had its share of “hot potato” as it was passed from one writer to another. Byron Willinger and Phillip de Blasi originally drafted the script who later gave it to Stuart Hazeldine. Hazeldine then passed it to Lawrebce Kasdan and Ryan Condal who pretty muched “polished” the script until it stopped at Condal’s hands. Condal is reported to have delivered the “most recent draft.” The film is looking to be distributed under Warner Bros.

Take a look at this angel. Rachel Weisz.
