As if this day couldn’t get any better, Christopher “f*ckin” Lambert has announced that he is “in talks to star alongside Nicolas Cage in GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE.” The film, as you already know, is a sequel to the first GHOST RIDER from Columbia Pictures. The Highlander facebook page, the origin of the announcement, writes. “Lambert says thank you very much for all the kind comments! He says he is in talks now to do Ghost Rider 2 with Nicholas Cage.”
How do you like the sound of that? Mr. Highlander himself might be wielding the sword alongside Johnny Blaze against the Devil and his force. We might as well call this a HIGHLANDER and GHOST RIDER team-up. While there hasn’t been a lot of Lambert in American films, he has been keeping himself busy with European stuff. We have yet to identify who Lambert will play in the film.
The story sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (Cage), hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil (Ciaran Hinds), who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the kid’s birthday.
In GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine (GAMER, CRANK) will be directing. The flick is set to being shooting in late November in Romania and Turkey. Neveldine and Taylor also wrote the script, working off a story by David Goyer. Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Michael De Luca, Ashok Amritraj and Steven Paul are producing. Nicholas Cage returns as the fire-headed Ghost Rider and will lead a cast that stars Ciaran Hinds, Violante Placido, Johnny Whitworth and Idris Elba.
