Here at AITH, we’ve been talking a lot about Chris Smith’s BLACK DEATH. Y’know, the one with Sean Bean wielding a sword like a beast. There’s even a review of it right here if you’re ever curious. Unfortunately, sometimes the average schmoe won’t be able to catch a flick like this at a fest or during a limited release.
That won’t be the case for too long as Bloody-Disgusting writes that Chris Smith has been talking with Magnolia Pictures for a U.S. Distribution. There are no other details thus far but at least there are people behind the curtain who are trying to get good flicks seen. The film stars Sean Bean and will be set in an apocalyptic medieval world, Death details the story of a band of brothers whose quest is to hunt down a necromancer against the backdrop of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England.
Or you can just read the official synopsis here!
Medieval England has fallen under the shadow of the Black Death. In this apocalyptic world, filled with fear and superstition, a young monk called Osmund is charged in leading a fearsome knight, Ulric and his group of mercenaries to a remote marsh. Torn between his love of God and the love of a young woman, Osmund discovers the necromancer, a mysterious beauty called Langiva. After Langiva reveals her Satanic identity and offers Osmund his hearts desire, the horror of his real journey begins.
BLACK DEATH stars Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Carice van Houten, David Warner, Kimberly Nixon, Emun Elliot, John Lynch, Andy Nyman, Johnny Harris, Marianne Graffam and Tim McInnerny.
