We’ve got an update on a new horror web series called THROWING STONES that’s creating buzz around the interwebs. News of a new trailer was reported on Fangoria and now we’ve got the trailer for you to view here on AITH. The official synopsis reveal: A group of high school students are forced to come together and overcome their differences in order to survive Saturday School when one by one the students end up missing. Plot details also include a serial killer among them and spending an entire day with zipties. Groovy!
While the concept may be about a bunch of high school kids being terrorized by a killer among them, it’s worth noting that many others are looking into various messages that this littly puppy is showcasing. We’ll just have to wait until the series make it’s debut within the coming months.
Bemmel talked with Fangoria about several viral videos that also tie into the web series. “Video yearbook diaries will slowly be made available for viewers to unlock so they can learn more about each character before the web series begins,” says Bart Van Bemmel. “When Assistant Principal Beckett set out to focus on fixing the ‘broken windows’ of Blair High, as an administrator he had a good idea of who to add to his list. However, when the journalism class set out to create a video yearbook for the school, he used them to explore further into the Blair student body to not only reaffirm that his targets were in fact correct—and also discovered some students who had been flying under the radar and added them to his Saturday School agenda.” You can watch those videos right here.
Bemmel also gives AITH a little glimpse into the future of THROWING STONES. “We’re hoping the first episode will be released by the end of November. Our entire team is working to make sure this can be done from the editing side, to the score, color grading, and sound design. It also depends on who will host the series. So far we have some nice interest.”
The series is based on a feature length script of the same name written by Directors Bart Van Bemmel and Jason Wheeler. They are joined by an interesting cast with Lindsay Seidel (THE FINAL), Cherami Leigh (THE MIST), and Rebekah Kennedy (BLOOD IS BLOOD).There’s also a pretty impressive lineup of crew members behind the project which include Colorist Omar Godinez (I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE), Sound Designer David Rosenblad (SUBURBAN NIGHTMARE, AMERICAN NIGHTMARE), Steadicam Operator David McGill (THE FACULTY), Cinematographer Kingslea Bueltel (Fox’s THE GOOD GUYS),and Assistant Editor San Crytsubger (THE ANT BULLY).
