Scream documentary in the works, will feature tons of rare footage

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Looks like those horror franchise documentaries (NEVER SLEEP AGAIN, THE PSYCHO LEGACY) are catching on faster these days. Is this the last hurrah for the horror icons of the 70’s and 90’s? I certainly hope not as horror icons these days are made up of torture porn and shaky cam ghost flicks.

So what’s the next installment in the line of horror documentaries? Bloody-Disgusting reports that Anthony Masi is teaming up with Ryan Turek (fellow horror journalist) for a retrospective look into the SCREAM franchise. Both Masi and Turek received blessings from Bob Weinstein and SCREAM father Wes Craven so it’s smooth sailing from here on out.

“This documentary will include rare archival footage, never-before-seen photos, new on-set stories, and will reveal the entire success of Scream from its inception right up to the new movie,” Masi comments.

Anthony Masi is actually currently working on the HELLRAISER documentary. Will he work on both projects simultaneously or will the SCREAM documentary come much later? Apparently they’ve been working on the project since March and since then have gathered enough information, including dozens of interviews, from various cast and crew members that were involved in the series. Masi and Turek are planning to release the SCREAM documentary (TV and DVD) on April 15th, with SCREAM 4’s wide release.
