America Olivo cast as Elijah Wood’s mother in Maniac remake; more cast revealed

Franck Khalfoun’s MANIAC remake is currently filming in Los Angeles, CA, with the unlikely Elijah Wood taking the lead as the woman-hating killer Frank. Today brings us a few more names to add to the cast.

America Olivo (pictured right; BITCH SLAP, FRIDAY THE 13th) revealed via her Facebook account that she’s filming the remake at the moment. Taking a cue from the lovely lady, I went to the flick’s IMDb page, and there she is, listed as “Frank’s Mother”. Talk about a MILF! Now, if you’ve seen the original, you know Frank has some very serious mommy issues; real Norman Bates type stuff. (I expect Olivo will be seen via flashbacks and/or hallucinations.)

In addition to Olivo, the flick stars Nora Arnezeder (the upcoming SAFE HOUSE), Morgane Slemp, Sal Landi, Dan Hunter and Steffinnie Phrommany. Khalfoun directs from a screenplay by Alexandre Aja and Grégory Levasseur.

The 1980 version of MANIAC breaks down like this: Frank Zito is a deeply disturbed man, haunted by the traumas of unspeakable childhood abuse. And when these horrific memories begin to scream inside his mind, Frank prowls the seedy streets of New York City to stalk and slaughter innocent young women. Now Frank has begun a relationship with a beautiful photographer, yet his vile compulsions remain. These are the atrocities of a human monster. This is the story of a Maniac.
