First poster for Dark Skies looks a little familiar

The first poster for DARK SKIES is using the tried and true horror movie one-sheet design of having a young adult or teenager arching his/her back and staring into the sky with mouth agape. Sure sometimes there’s something coming out of the mouth (see THE POSSESSION) or just looking really uncomfortable (THE LAST EXORCISM); it must strike a nerve because these marketing peeps keep going back to it.

DARK SKIES is a supernatural thriller that follows a young family living in the suburbs. As husband and wife Daniel and Lacey Barret witness an escalating series of disturbing events involving their family, their safe and peaceful home quickly unravels. When it becomes clear that the Barret family is being targeted by an unimaginably terrifying and deadly force, Daniel and Lacey take matters in their own hands to solve the mystery of what is after their family.

DARK SKIES, starring Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton and J.K. Simmons, opens on February 22nd.
