The Walking Dead Season Four will amp up the zombie threat

While there’s no question that “walkers” are a huge part of what makes “The Walking Dead” scary, the current season of the show has focused predominantly on the conflict between two factions of human survivors; the battle between good and evil is at the forefront. So are the zombies receding into the background a bit?

That’s subjective, of course, but it would seem as though producer Gale Anne Hurd wants to bring the walkers back to the spotlight in the fourth season, which is currently preparing for a May start.

Speaking at an event to Comic Boob Resources, Hurd wanted us all to know that those undead buggers aren’t going to just hang around and wait for the humans to do each other in:

We are going to amp up the threat of the walkers, because they’ve started to seem like a manageable threat. They are not a manageable threat. But, it is the people who you think you can trust who betray you, that you have to fear. It is the monster inside you. We all have them. How do we keep them in check?”

What this means for the fourth season is anybody’s guess, but Hurd’s comments to indicate a larger walker presence is in the cards. I say, the more zombies, the better!

Additionally, the site got a few choice quotes from executive producer/creator Robert Kirkman about the show’s correlation to the comic book series moving forward:

“We’ve always been sort of moving in and out of the comic book, and I think that we’re going to continue to do that. I think that there are huge elements of the comic book in Season 3. Moving into Season 4, it’s going to be pretty much the same. There’s going to be a lot of things that fans recognize from the comics. It’s going to be a lot of new elements pushed in, and it’s going to make for a really good show like it always has been.”
